A very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year from all at Cyclone24!
2018 has been our best and busiest year yet and we’d like to thank you for helping to make it such a memorable time for us.
We kicked off 2018 with our first challenge at Derby Arena, where a new laps record was set. The first ever 24 hour challenge to be held at the Arena, with a fabulous turnout including our first tandem bike team, and an amazing laps record set by the team from Derbyshire Institute of Sport. Completing a total of 4169 laps, this is still our overall challenge laps record. Can it be beaten in 2019?
2018 also saw us launch our first outdoor velodrome challenge at one of the oldest velodromes in the world, Carmarthen Velodrome. And, we loved it so much, we’re heading back there for our next 12 hour, 4 person, road bike, team challenge, on Saturday 29th June. Full details on the challenge can be found here.
Our very own, Zoe Westerman, was named in Cycling UK’s 100 Women in Cycling 2018. A list which recognises and celebrates inspirational women who are encouraging others to take part in the sport, it recognises the incredible women working hard and making a significant impact within the typically male dominated sectors of cycling.
And, we were able to support some fantastic charities with Cyclone24 participants raising near £40,000 taking our fundraising total to over £150,000 in the last four years.
A huge end of year congratulations to all of our challenge participants who have shown some amazing commitment to the challenge and to their fundraising. Whether you joined us at Derby, Newport, Carmarthen or at one of our sportives – you have all achieved incredible things – a massive well done to you.
We’d also like to thank all of our 2018 event partners; Physio Space, Impact Physio, Café Velo, The Thirsty Elephant, Cleartech Live, Pactimo and event sponsor for the past four years Stills Branding. We simply couldn’t do it with you!
It has been a fantastic 12 months and we’re already looking forward to sharing more exciting news and adventures with you in the New Year.
Ride safe this Christmas, enjoy this period of carb loading, catch up with the cycling books you’ve been meaning to read all year, and prepare yourself for a superb 2019.
Happy holidays, everyone!
